The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) presented Master Gbeminiyi Joel Arolasafe, a Premiere Academy Science Student in SS2
with the award for the best ICT Wizkid for the year 2018, in recognition of his outstanding achievements among his peers. The event was organised by the NSE (Abuja Chapter) during their 2018 conference, held in Rockview Hotels Wuse 2 Abuja, on the 12th of December 2018.
Gbeminiyi was selected for presenting a remote-controlled electric car that depicts the features of a robot, making movements similar to those of a real car. The car is controlled remotely using a radio frequency antenna installed on the boot of the car emitting signals within a 10 metre radius.
The young innovator, who plans to study Robotics in future, was asked to demonstrate his invention before the members of the conference and invited guests. To the amazement of the crowd he received a resounding applause for a job well done. He also received several accolades from highly-placed engineers in the country who made statements on the need for schools to constantly expose the talents of their students to the world to prepare them for bigger platforms, as Nigeria has the capacity to produce inventors that compete with the rest of the world as far as Science and Technology are concerned.
The event also had in attendance MDs of Global ICT companies such as Access Solutions, Vogue Pay, Plus Net and Management Edge.
Gbeminiyi received the award with the Head of Learning and members of Premiere Academy staff in attendance alongside his parents who cheered for him as he walked on to the stage.
