SS2 Coffee with the Principal

of Premiere Academy was such an illuminating experience for the parents of SS2 students who attended the meeting on the 24th of May 2019. The session had in attendance the Supervising Director, Mr Akintomide, representing the Board of the school; the Head of Learning& Studies (HOLS), Mr Chris Akinsowon, the Head of Boarding, Mr Adesanmi, the house fathers and the house mothers for male and female hostels respectively, as well as the school Matron and the heads of school.

Pressing issues that related to various departments of the school were tackled. Among them were parents-school relationship, adherence to school rules, students’ academic progress, boarding life, discipline and the general welfare of SS2 students.

The programme started with the Principal of the school giving a remarkable opening address to acknowledge the distinguished parents who honoured the invitation and were very punctual. He reminded the parents to use the opportunity offered by the interactive nature of Coffee with the Principal to air their views, challenges and expectations in order to arrive at a satisfactory conclusion on all matters.

At the peak of the meeting, the Head of Learning was invited by the Principal to state the primary points of the meetings, make announcements and also to handle the questions and answers session. Without wasting time Mr Akinsowon responded to questions on the following:

Parents talked about the need for more detailed information or written literature passed to them periodically in order to learn more about the advantages of taking examinations to foreign schools, and the underlying scholarship opportunities that are available. They suggested that the school should invite a resource person from the American Embassy to explain more about the academic opportunities in a very detailed manner along with the costs and duration. The Principal took note of this and assured the parents of conscientious efforts to sensitize them more on foreign examinations.

The Head of Pastoral, Mr Adesami was invited to brief the parents on the state of affairs within the boarding arm of the school.
