Every day, over 3,000 tons of waste pile up in Nigerian cities, threatening public health and the environment. But at Premiere Academy, our students are stepping up to change this narrative, as solution-driven leaders who understand the impact of their actions on the world around them,
inspired by the call to safeguard our planet, they are proving that true leadership is about identifying problems and creating solutions.
A Commitment to Change: The Lugbe Clean-Up Initiative
Through our Community Service Unit, we have made environmental responsibility a key part of our students’ education. One of our most impactful initiatives is the routine Lugbe Clean-Up Initiative, where students and staff come together to restore and maintain a clean, healthy environment.
Armed with gloves, trash bags, and an unwavering commitment to change, our students recently embarked on another successful clean-up campaign on Saturday, March 23rd, 2024, in Lugbe. They worked tirelessly to remove waste, promote proper disposal habits, and engage the local community in discussions about sustainability.
More Than Just Cleaning - A Lesson in Leadership
Our clean-up campaigns are not just about removing litter; they are about instilling values. Every campaign is an opportunity to teach our students about:
✅ Environmental responsibility - Students saw firsthand how plastic waste clogs drainage systems and contributes to flooding.
✅ Community engagement - Many locals joined in, proving that teamwork makes sustainability possible.
✅ Leadership and initiative - By organizing the cleanup, our students learned how small actions lead to big changes.
One student summed it up perfectly:
"At first, I thought picking up trash wouldn’t make much difference," said Shukurat. "But seeing the environment looking cleaner after just a few hours made me realize that small actions truly matter."
A Call to Action: Be the Change
At Premiere Academy, we believe that every action - no matter how small - contributes to a larger positive impact. A cleaner environment leads to a healthier, more vibrant community. Our students are showing that change starts with one person, one act, one community at a time.
Will you be part of the change? Start by making small but meaningful choices today - pick up litter, reduce plastic use, and encourage others to do the same. Every effort counts. Together, let’s create a future where responsibility meets action - one clean-up at a time.
