Did you know that an ideal 21st-century education must be flexible and adaptable to the desires and learning styles of the 21st-century students?
Thus, as parents, a modern educational programme that shapes students with the future in mind should be your guiding benchmark when looking for a school for your ward(s).
At Premiere Academy, we are constantly updating our methods and facilities in line with the latest educational trends and developments, both within and outside the classroom. Therefore, we have introduced some out-of-classroom activities designed to enhance and promote students’ learning. These are:
• Chess Club: Our Chess Club is a place where students develop and improve their social and critical thinking skills. The club provides an interactive learning platform for students to learn and acquire some important life skills, and as well develop their critical thinking abilities in the process. In the Chess Club, students learn patience, concentration, meditation, and use precise thinking, inductive, and deductive reasoning to solve difficult tasks and complex patterns. Also, they learn how to combine problem-solving, pattern recognition, and creative thinking to make moves and how these skills can be applied in a real-life situation. Most importantly, our Chess Club is geared towards helping students to become resourceful problem solvers in the-life-after-school.
• Our Coding Club: Aside from providing a positive learning peer group community, our coding club is anchored on making students learn and master their problem-solving skills through critical thinking. The importance of critical thinking cannot be overemphasized as it is one of the requisites of succeeding in the 21st-century workplace. Furthermore, in terms of math skills, coding helps students to learn algorithmic thinking. In a nutshell, coding helps students to perform better in math.
•Our Music Club: Have you ever thought of music as a factor that could enrich students’ lives and education? Maybe not! At Premiere Academy, every student is expected to learn how to play at least two musical instruments before graduation. According to experts, music helps the part of the brain that is used for memorization. More so, memorization is an important skill that will serve students for a lifetime. Thus, students with a background in art learn to think creatively. In summary, music develops a child’s imagination and intellectual curiosity.
• Our Drama Club: This club helps students to develop oral, mimetic, and communication skills. This will, in turn, make them become great communicators who can express themselves in any environment they find themselves. Aside from the club developing students to be effective communicators, it also brings out the innate creativity in students as they get involved in several drama activities.
Away from the few but not limited to the aforementioned school activities designed for students at Premiere Academy, it will be nice if you have a snippet of our classroom experience.
Over the years, our teachers have realized the importance of drama and humour in the classroom. As a new and innovative way of imparting the knowledge, they infuse it in their classes to encourage active participation because drama and humour encourage students to listen and participate. An engaged student is one who is more likely to absorb information, retain it, and make use of it in real-life situations. It might not come as a surprise, but laughter is a great indicator of engagement.
