The Social SciencesDepartment of Premiere Academy organized its Trade Fair day alongside Visiting Day on Saturday 28th September 2019 at the school stadium. The aim of the programme was to expose students to the skills of entrepreneurship, self dependence and demonstrate the benefits of hardwork.

According to the Head of Department , MrSunday Oluwakoya, who was given an opportunity to address parents at the ‘Coffee with Principal’ meeting the day before, the aims and objectives of the Trade Fair programmewere designed to teach students how to make money on their own, without help or influence from parents or friends. He added that the Trade Fair was a talent-driven exercise, where students were encouraged to utilize their God-given talents such as cooking skills, fine art skills, craftsmanship skills, digital technology skills and so on, to deliver value added service which in turn translates to wealth creation and fulfillment.

The event started at 10:00am and the school stadium quickly filled with parents and friends trooping in to reunite with their children and participate in the highly-talked-about Trade Fair event they had all been looking forward to. Before the commencement, an opening speech was given by the Chairman of thePlanning Committee and Head of the Social Sciences Department, Mr Sunday Oluwakoya.  Immediately following this, the event was officially declared open by the Principal alongside the Head of Learning & Studies, who then proceeded with a few parents on a quick tour of the various stalls laid out around the stadium field. From that point, the event kicked off.

Parents had been respectfully petitioned not to come to the event with food items, even though it was Visiting Day.  The idea behind this this was to allow the objectives of the Trade Fair to be achieved – i.e. for students to learn how to make money for themselves by trading.

As the excitement and enthusiasm reached a climax at the height of the event, almost all student items hadsold outon their stalls and only items sold by external vendors from Drumstix, Coldstone and Dominos were left. It was, however, no surprise that students recorded a very high income in sales especially as items ran out to the amazement of the organizers.

With all pleasure the organizers recorded a very successful event as parents, teachers, staff and students satisfied, looked forward to the next edition next year 2020.
