Why is Premiere Academy a "Top School in Nigeria"

Why is Premiere Academy a "Top School in Nigeria"

What are the features of a top school in Nigeria?

How do I choose the best school for my children?
What's the guarantee of my child being in good care?

As parents or guardians, it's normal to ask these questions.

Finding the “Right Secondary School” for your child is one of the most important decisions you will have to make as a parent. One reason for this is that your child will be spending an integral part of their formative years in a secondary school learning, making friends and developing character before they transit into higher institution. Your choice of a secondary school for them can impact and influence academic performance, social and emotional well-being.

If you are not sure of the best school for your child, well, consider these 5 CRITICAL FACTORS to guide you in making the best choice:

1. Is the School Consistent in Delivering Excellent Results?
Many parents think that the only factor for determining the best secondary schools in Nigeria is the overall performance of the schools in the West African Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). As impressive as this might look on the surface, it is not enough factor to determine the best secondary school for your child.
To have a better and more concrete analysis, it is important that you also enquire to know if the WASSCE results of a school have been consistently good and impressive over a period of time. For instance, in the past years, what have been the performances of their WASSCE results like? Has it been consistently remarkable?
A school that lacks consistency in an excellent performance, especially in external examinations such as WASSCE, cannot fully guarantee academic success for your child.
We are not only consistent at Premiere Academy with an excellent result of 99% success rate across all subjects in the WASSCE for a decade. Also, we offer college counselling and mentoring programmes. Our alumni are excelling academically in various universities across the globe and this has endeared us to various foreign Universities which are now seeking partnerships with us concerning students’ referral for university admission.

2. Does the School Offer an All-round Education?
An all-around education involves all aspects of a student’s learning experiences. It encompasses the school’s environment, learning modules, and how teachers plan and deliver lessons. It also considers how students engage with their fellow students and how they interact on various subject matters in the course of their learning.
An all-around education also factors in the moral upbringing of students as well as exposes them to other innovative learning experiences.
As a dynamic school, Premiere Academy has embraced one of the most innovative forms of learning, which is referred to as STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics). Our STEAM-focused approach to learning offers a flexible learning environment that exposes students to a curriculum having contemporary subjects such as Coding, Robotics, Astronomy, 3D Printing, Engineering, Chess etc. Students are taught the fundamentals of learning and are shown how they can apply them to real-world environments.

3. How frequent Do Students Get Scholarship Opportunities in Local/International Universities?
Over the years, Premiere Academy has helped students with scholarship opportunities (locally and internationally) and seamless admission processes. We know that choosing a university that will help actualize your child’s career goals often follows an exhaustive process of comparing and contrasting the academic offers of various universities.
To make this process seamless, at Premiere Academy, we have created a system to help parents and students identify top national and international universities and to provide them with adequate information about career choices as well as the corresponding universities or colleges that will equip them in their chosen careers. Thus, Premiere Academy organises a Career/University Fair annually where college representatives, agents and consultants from universities across Europe, America, Canada, Grenada, the UK, and private Nigerian universities educate and enlighten our students about scholarship opportunities and institutions that will equip them for their future ambitions.

4. Does the School Have a Safe and Secure Learning Environment?
Students’ safety and safeguarding are part of the critical focus of our boarding school education at Premiere Academy and this generally remain a part of our highest priority. In addition to our world-class student-centred teaching method designed to achieve academic goals, we are fully committed to ensuring the safety of our students by providing credible security systems and personnel. Our concerted efforts make students feel safe and secure while at school.

5 Does the School Focus on Discipline, Personal Development and Religion, besides Academics?
As earlier mentioned, the school environment has a great capacity to impact and influence a child’s social, emotional and mental well-being. Therefore, one of our aims at Premiere Academy is to instil discipline in all our students. Inculcating discipline and good morals are important parts of our educational processes at Premiere Academy, because discipline plays a vital role in helping students to achieve strong academic excellence, make wise decisions, and stay focused on their studies.
We do not only focus on academic excellence but also, we provide an enabling environment and facilities that will help our students discover and harness their unique talents and inherent capabilities.
The unique setting of our boarding school promotes and allows students to navigate through planned activities and become disciplined individuals, we guide them in the practice of becoming disciplined and responsible people within and beyond the school environment.
Over the years of our existence, we've been able to successfully and productively incorporate all 5 key factors and more in our approach to education, in line with our mission to develop children into world leaders through a rigorous educational programme that combines academic success with personal development.

Few Extras To Pack For When Coming Back To School

Few Extras To Pack For When Coming Back To School

As the new term approaches, it is important for parents to begin preparation early so as to ensure that their children and wards transition smoothly into the new academic calendar.

We know things may get a little hectic for parents in the weeks or days leading to resumption, so Premiere Academy, one of the best secondary schools in Abuja, has created this detailed back-to-school checklist for you.

It contains general school supplies, essentials for high school students, and helpful details on how to get some of them.

Back to School Essentials

There are a lot of necessary items in this category, thereby making it easy for some things to be forgotten or overlooked, especially for first-time secondary school parents. We’ve got you covered, though, whether your child got newly promoted to high school, just joining our secondary school this session, or if you’ve been part of this big Premiere Academy family from previous academic sessions.

Here's our list of the most important school supplies:

  1. Backpacks

These come in many sizes and designs. Ensure to check the dimensions of the backpack to see if it's not too small or too big for your child.

An interesting option to consider here is the rolling backpack. It is comfortable, easy to move around, and we highly recommend it because the comfort and well-being of students matter greatly to us here. That’s another key reason why we are recognized among the best secondary schools in Abuja.

  1. Lunch boxes

It's not so cool, neither is it fun for high school students to wear a backpack and carry a lunch box at the same - especially the junior secondary school students who may struggle under the weight. So lunch boxes should either fit inside a backpack or be strapped to the front of it.

Important tip: check to be certain that the lunchbox is waterproof and will not leak any spilled food or drink. A lot of times a backpack will come with a matching lunchbox.

  1. Water bottles

Secondary school learning is a process that requires top levels of concentration for long periods daily. It is important and very healthy for students to stay hydrated throughout. It is our attention to details like this that positions us among the best secondary schools in Abuja and we intend to maintain these high standards.

So students at Premiere Academy are allowed to keep water bottles in their cubby or locker, as we recognise how relevant this is to the whole learning process. If the water bottle is insulated, even better. Here are a few you can actually check out:

4. Organizer Binders

Secondary school education involves a fair amount of work notes, textbooks, and a lot more things to keep organised. So, organiser binders are super important.

Note that our standing as a top secondary school in Abuja flows from our institutional organisation and order. And we are deliberate about helping all our high school students to imbibe this trait. That’s why we recommend folders and binders for them, in order to keep their subjects separated.

Pro tip: It's a good idea to select different colors for your kids to help them differentiate and not mix things up.

  1. Homework notebooks
As a top boarding school in Nigeria and one of the best secondary schools in Abuja, we take homework very seriously and ensure that all students end the day with one. Many times, you have to provide paper or note cards to do the work. Make sure you add this to your shopping list as they prepare to return back to school, this won't just make them organized off the classroom, it'll help even inside it.

Most schools stick to spiral notebooks or composition books!

  1. Pencil holders
Great for markers, pencils, pens, paintbrushes.

  1. Electronics
Premiere Academy is a top secondary school in Abuja that uses modern, electronic teaching methods and not just the traditional form of schooling. Since high school students have electronics in the classroom over here, having these tools available at home will be extra-helpful helpful for continuous learning, especially when they’re home for holidays.

Pro Tip: If you don't already own a tablet or iPad, you may consider getting one for your kids to do their homework. There are a lot of great free apps you can also download to help them practice their math or reading.

Pro Tip 2: Don't forget the headphones! Kids are being introduced to computers and all schools want kids to have their own headphones to work on a tablet or computer. The earbuds are good for the older children, but get the full padded headphones for the junior children.

We strongly advise parents to make this available for their children so they can get the best out of online education at this top secondary school in Abuja. It is also a far more hygienic option than letting them use the ones available at school.

  1. Sport kits

Our school is not one of the top secondary schools in Abuja only because of our academic excellence, but also because of our sporting endeavours.

So we will not forget to include the needs of our sporty students who will require new kits to function at optimum capacity at our football academy, and at other sporting activities. So while shopping for other things, don’t leave out the things your child needs to excel at the sports they play.
